Editor's Note
I have been worried about writing for some time, writing in perhaps a pataphysical sense since it fills the void of the writer’s page and the void of the reader’s silence but also writing with its political implications. “Good” writing (writing with sympathetic characters, believable action and satisfying conclusions) contains the threat of democratic tyranny or placating amnesia.
That is why I have tried to veer away from the “good” in favor of the vital, the challenging. Work such as “Two Lovers”, “The Sleeping Beauty” and “Incendiary” make us implicit in violence and destruction, while never questioning their necessity or essence.
As always, I want to thank Nate. His valuable advice always allows me to see work more clearly.
